This is how we like to picture our ocean - clean and teeming with life - the way nature intended.

Sadly, that picture does not match reality. The truth is our ocean faces more threats than ever before.

NOT A PRETTY PICTURE

Whaling ships armed with exploding harpoons hunt whales in defiance of international treaties... plastic pollution has turned large areas of the ocean into toxic stews, choking sea turtles and countless other marine animals and sea birds... and as the icecaps continue to melt, polar bear habitats shrink, leaving them to starve or drown as they search in vain for their next meal.

It's not a pretty picture, not the way we want to envision our ocean.

So what can we do to protect our ocean and the life it sustains? How can we solve the urgent problems threatening the ocean and our environment?

So I'll vote Democratic, and hope enough of you have your

heads out of your ----- (the sand) to do the same.

And by the way, did you know that there is no

statute of limitations on IMPEACHMENT? We can still

IMPEACH G W, AND MC CHENEY AFTER THEY'RE OUT

OF OFFICE. After all, why should we give them a golden

parachute, and pay their medical, dental bills for the rest of their

lives, and provide them a retirement salary for screwing us for

8 years? I wouldn't mind providing for their needs if they were

behind bars where they belong; with 'big bubba' as their roommate.

But we must stay on the backs of our senators, and congressmen/women

to get it done.

Last Thursday the House of Representatives acted to curb excessive OIL speculation, but in the absence of any indication that the Senate will act, prices have spiked.

The largest one-day price increase in NYMEX history occurred today. Although we recognize the impact of the financial crisis on Wall Street, the weak dollar and the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, this unprecedented 16% one date jump also reflects the impact of excessive energy speculation. Reversing recent price decreases, oil peaked at $130 a barrel, closing at $120.92 a barrel reflecting the impact of excessive energy speculation.

The market’s extreme volatility suggests that speculators who withdrew tens of billions of dollars from the energy markets when Congress threatened to tighten oversight over excessive and harmful speculation breathed a sigh of relief last week when action in the Senate seemed unlikely, and returned to the energy markets in full force today.

We need a bipartisan approach to a national energy policy. Congress must pass a comprehensive energy plan or all Americans will pay the price as oil prices return to or exceed this summer’s record levels.

not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older
brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the '100 Women of the Century.' BY BARBRA WALTERS Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how

Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison the ' Hanoi Hilton.'

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American 'Peace Activist' the 'lenient and humane treatment' he'd received. He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed and was dragged away.

During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp Commandant 's feet which sent that officer berserk. In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from
double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the 'Hanoi Hilton',,, the first three of which his family only knew he was 'missing in action'.

His wife lived on faith that he was still alive.

His group, too, got cleaned-up, fed and paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived...

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each
man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: 'Aren't you sorry you bombed
babies?' and 'Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?'

Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper.
She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper. Three men died from the subsequent beatings.

Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we
know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam , and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia ; and one year in a 'black box' in Hanoi.

My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a
nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South Vietnam , whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border.

At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.)
We were Jane Fonda's 'war criminals.' When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi , I was asked by
the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received... and how
different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as 'humane and lenient.' Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky
floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weights placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV.

She never did answer me. These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of '100 Years of Great Women.'

Lest we forget...' 100 Years of Great Women' should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots.

There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in blatant treason, is one of them.

Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can.

It will eventually end up on her computer and she needs to know that we will never forget.

Congress has no right to give the White House and its Secretary of the Treasury the power to transfer the people's money to the richest bankers in the country. Vote No to the Bailout legislation. The Bailout legislation is being rammed through Congress in a matter of days. This is an illegal power grab by the White House and their richest friends on Wall Street. The Legislation allows the Treasury Department to appoint the same bankers who created the crisis to administer and dictate the use of trillions of our tax dollars. It is also one of the biggest transfers of wealth from working families to the ultra-rich in the history of the United States.

Congress should help families stay in their homes. Wealthy executives should be forced to disgorge their obscene profits, fees and bonuses that made them ultra-rich while they ran the economy into the ground.

I Demand that the Bailout Legislation Be Rejected

We are witnessing a bankers' coup d’etat. In the name of saving the economy from a crisis created by their own greed and immense profits, Bush and the biggest bankers have taken a country and a people hostage.

“Give us your money and tear up what’s left of your Constitution or we will sink your economy,” is the message from Wall Street and the Bush Administration. “Give us the power and money we demand or you will be left jobless from a new economic depression."

Under the pretext of the banking crisis, the Bush Administration is changing the way this country operates. This is not simply taking trillions of dollars from the people and giving it to the richest bankers to do with as they see fit.

Congress is poised to vote to give the Executive Branch of government, and specifically the White House’s political appointees in the Treasury Department, the absolute right to take our money and give it to domestic and foreign banks and corporations without any oversight of elected officials, from the courts, or from the people.

The new legislation states: “Decisions by the Secretary [of the Treasury] pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.”

The Legislation allows the Treasury Department to appoint the same bankers who created the crisis to administer and dictate the use of trillions of our tax dollars.

We will not stand by and let the Bush Administration formalize its vision of a “government of, by and for the richest bankers."

The new system institutionalizes theft on a grand scale. Lehman Brothers bankers will receive $2.5 billion in bonuses after their company went bankrupt last week, but the new dictatorial authority under the White House and Treasury Department has ruled out any relief for the millions of working families who are being foreclosed.

We live in a $15 trillion annual economy. Instead of taking our tax dollars and giving it to the already rich and powerful, these funds should be used provide to decent paying jobs, affordable housing, health care and a good education for our children. There is another way!

Now is the time to hear the voice of the people. A spineless Congress authorized Bush’s illegal war in Iraq and rubber-stamped the Patriot Act. Now YOU are being herded like sheep again to give the White House and Wall Street dictatorial control over the people’s money.

Enough is ENOUGH! It's time Congress did it's job, and takes the Country back away from the criminal bush cartel: but they won't unless we tell them to do it!

We've heard about the Spanish company Centra holding the lease on the Trans Texas Corridor, the Indiana Tollway, etc., and many are probably aware that foreign companies are buying American infrastructure rapidly. Now the Sovereign Wealth funds which many countries hold are buying our foreclosed homes. Abu Dhabi has $875 billion, Norway $391 billion, Singapore $303 billion, Kuwait $264 billion in their funds to name a few. These countries are hiring American real estate companies to buy billions in foreclosed American real estate at bargain prices. This is intolerable, embarrassing and unacceptable for a Sovereign and once great nation to endure.

We will soon be debtors in our homes to other nations who hold our debt. The dollar is so disrespected abroad that these countries want real American assets instead of worthless paper and as always, unfortunately, there are greedy individuals and corporations, more interested in profit than patriotism, who are willing to oblige. It is time for Americans to take a stand against the selling off of America! Chuck Baldwin and Darrell Castle are prepared to take the lead in keeping America for Americans and offer the Baldwin/Castle Doctrine as a solution to protect America from takeover by foreign interests.

If you check out the front page of the Libertarian Party's Web site, you will notice there are only 50 days left until the presidential election.

Just 50 days until we elect the next president of the United States.

It seems just yesterday that Bob Barr, our presidential nominee, took the stage at the national convention, telling us we could not waste one single day of the 163 that remained.

In the past 113 days, the Libertarian Party has seen an explosion of growth, and increased prominence in the national media.

From coast to coast, border to border, the Libertarian Party has been spreading the message of liberty.

The 2008 season of ballot access is also winding down, with ballot access in 44 states currently, and more pending finalization. It has been costly, and it has required thousands of hours of time from volunteers—but the Libertarian Party will be there on the ballot for voters looking for more choice.

Big Oil controls politicians in Washington.

We found out this week that Bush administration officials were literally in bed with the oil and gas industry. In a major scandal, public officials were giving oil companies access to offshore drilling wells in exchange for sex, drugs and money.

This is exactly the problem with America's energy policy. Too many people in Washington are paid for by Big Oil.

Yesterday, representative Dennis Kucinich submitted 50,000 more names to the clerk of the House demanding impeachment. On Tuesday, Rep. Jim McDermott (D.-WA) spoke on the House floor in favor of impeachment. As Rep. Kucinich said yesterday, more than 2 million Americans have signed petitions demanding impeachment, making it one of the greatest exercises in grassroots democracy in recent times.

Impeachment has become an unavoidable issue on the floor of the House of Representatives, despite the efforts to take impeachment “off the table.” This amazing development is the result of the work of ImpeachBush.org and others who are petitioning, and joining rallies in cities and towns across the country to demand impeachment. Excerpts from Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s remarks from yesterday’s press conference:

"Standing with me here today are representatives of organizations who have been part of a national grassroots impeachment movement which has collected over a million signatures. Nationally over two million people have signed impeachment petitions. I want to thank the leaders for their efforts and work with them to continue to build a movement for truth.

“9/11 is the day the world changed. We want today, September 10, 2008 to be a new beginning in our efforts to change the world. For my part, I am going to ask those grassroots leaders who have channeled their energies into defending the Constitution and the rule of law to join me in this new endeavor.”

Good afternoon, my name is Radhika Miller. I am here representing ImpeachBush.org that was formed by former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark on January 18, 2003 from the stage of a rally of 500,000 people who were demonstrating on the National Mall just across the street to demand no war of aggression against Iraq. Today, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi have died and tens of thousands of US service members have been killed or badly wounded. These horrific casualties took place because George W. Bush was allowed and not punished for initiating a war of unprovoked aggression.

Since that time, more than one million people have voted at ImpeachBush.org in favor of impeachment. Volunteers from around the country collect these ImpeachBush petitions.

We want to thank Dennis Kucinich for having the courage and honesty to introduce 35 articles of impeachment in June of this year. Representative Kuncinch speaks for tens of millions of people who insist that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and all officials be held accountable for criminal misconduct, breaking the peace in an unprovoked war of aggression and for shredding the Constitution.

The fact that Bush has four months left in office does not matter one bit when it comes to violating the Constitution. As one speaker after another made clear in the July 25 hearing of the House Judiciary Committee hearing: impeachment is a constitutionally mandated duty and not a matter of partisan politics.

If Congress refuses to carry out its obligations it sends a message to all future presidents, from either Party, that the Constitution has been stripped of all meaning. We have a duty to act and we will.

"MORE OF THE SAME: McCain's endorsement of the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is the second major federal intervention that he has supported in recent months.

In March, he backed the Federal Reserve's decision to extend a $30 billion credit line to finance the takeover of Bear Stearns by JP Morgan.

The strange dissonance between McCain's free-market, pro-deregulation rhetoric and his repeated support for sweeping government interventions suggests that a McCain administration would depart little from the Bush administration's status quo.

One example of just how close McCain and Bush are to one another with regard to financial policy is the Bush administration's appointment of Herbert Allison to head Fannie Mae in the wake of the government bailout.

Allison is a close McCain ally who during McCain's 2000 campaign was considered the "best bet" to become McCain's Treasury Secretary.

McCain himself argued yesterday that the U.S. Treasury "had broadly followed the McCain plan" for the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailout.

McCain and Palin lament that "Fannie and Freddie's lobbyists succeeded and Congress failed" and claim that "under our administration this will not happen again."

However, their pattern of endorsing dramatic and expensive federal bailouts, while shunning the regulatory measures needed to prevent them, suggests otherwise."

And don't forget the bridge to no where that Palin backed, or the road to the bridge to no where that Palin screwed the American publics pocket book out of the funds to build. The road is being built even though Congress saw through the bridge deal.

If these two get into office, then we may as well lay on our backs and spread our legs cause we're going to have another 4 years of screwing by bush politics in the White house; that is of course unless you are in the top 2% wealth wise.

McCain would have given more thought to picking out another house for himself than he did in picking Sarah Palin. Such recklessness reveals a stunning lack of judgment and shows what little respect he has for the American public.
